But, leave it to Vince Carter to steal the spotlight. Carter told reporters after the game that he has recently become engaged to a long-time friend and soon-after girlfriend, he first met on a trip to the University of North Carolina campus as a high-school senior. Not only that, but his connection to one-time Tar Heel teammate and the man he was traded for on draft night in 1998, Antawn Jamison continues. Ellen, the apple of Vince’s eye, is actually the sister -in-law of Jamison. Carter re-united with his sweetheart at Jamison’s wedding early this summer. He proposed a few days ago and she accepted. ”Hey, when I’m hurting now, I have a chiropractor,” said the blushing Carter. She is a successful chiropractor with her own practice in South Carolina. As Carter tells it, he is marrying into a family full of doctors, orthodontists and the like.
