The 11th Conference on Language, Discourse, and Cognition (CLDC 11) Date: May 3rd to 4th, 2024 Venue: National Taiwan University, Taiwan Website: https://sites.google.com/g.ntu.edu.tw/cldc-11 Meeting Description In 2024, the 11th Conference on Language, Discourse, and Cognition will be held from 3to 4 May 2024 at National Taiwan University (NTU), Taiwan. This conference will be hosted by the Graduate Institute of Linguistics, National Taiwan University. The CLDC aims to provide a forum for researchers interested in language, discourse, and cognition to discuss new research findings, exchange innovative ideas and share the approaches in these fields. Topics relevant to language, discourse, and cognition as well as interdisciplinary studies stimulated over the last few years have given rise to a growing body of critical findings, making CLDC an important event in the field of cognitive linguistics in East Asia. Call for Papers General Theme: Cognitive Linguistics and Interdisciplinary Studies The 11th Conference on Language, Discourse, and Cognition (CLDC 11) provides an international forum that brings together researchers interested in language , discourse, and cognition. The focus of CLDC 11 sets "Cognitive Linguistics and Interdisciplinary Studies" as the main theme with the objective of further exploring various issues bearing on the symbiosis among cognition, language, and other disciplines. We would like to invite original abstracts on topics dealing with, but not limited to, the following disciplines or sub-disciplines : ● Cognitive Syntax ● Cognitive Semantics ● Cognitive Pragmatics ● Cognitive Sociolinguistics ● Corpus and Computational Linguistics ● Linguistic Typology ● Cognitive Linguistics and Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, Cognitive Science, Social Science, Computer Science, etc.) Special Theme: Large Language Models (LLMs) and Discourse Analysis The 11th Conference on Language, Discourse, and Cognition (CLDC 11) is poised to present an incisive theme that encapsulates the confluence of "Large Language Models (LLMs) and Discourse Analysis". With the burgeoning development of sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) frameworks, the exploration into the nuances of language has been remarkably transformed. The detailed knowledge of linguistics and discourse analysis now plays a pivotal role in the advancement and authenticity of conversational constructs within AI systems. Recognizing the critical significance and burgeoning potential of this interdisciplinary nexus, CLDC 11 cordially invites the submission of abstracts that rigorously investigate the interplay between LLMs and Discourse Analysis. Submissions may encompass a spectrum of theoretical frameworks, applied research, and interdisciplinary pursuits that bridge the gap between intricate linguistic phenomena and AI technology. Prospective topics may include, but are certainly not limited to, the following areas: ● Theoretical Implications of LLMs on Discourse Analysis Paradigms ● Pragmatic Markers and their Computational Representations ● Semantics in Conversation ● Modeling Conversational Dynamics using Large Language Models ● Optimizing Conversation Recommendations through LLMs ● Strategic Deployment of Conversational AI in Varied Contexts ● Progress in Language Generation for Conversational Interfaces ● Dialogue State Tracking with Enhanced LLMs ● Methodologies for Dialogue Evaluation in LLM Contexts ● Comprehensive Strategies for Dialogue Data Collection and Datasets Annotation ● Slot-based Mechanisms in LLM-driven Conversational AI ● Retrieval-based Approaches in LLMs for Conversational AI ● Innovations in Generative Conversational AI ● Explorations into Multimodal Dialogues and LLM Applications ● Contextual Modeling and its Relevance to LLMs in Dialogue Systems ● Semantic Representation within the Scope of Large Language Models ● Representation Learning for Dialogues in the Realm of LLMs The committee eagerly anticipates original, cutting-edge contributions that push the boundaries of current research paradigms and pave the way for groundbreaking applications of large language models in the nuanced analysis of discourse. Keynote Speakers (In AlphabeticalOrder) Prof. Dr. Dagmar Divjak (University of Birmingham, United Kingdom ) Additional distinguished speakers will be confirmed and announced soon.
