The Rossonero chief was attacked with water and he was booed, jeered and heckled by thugs who breached security at the San Lorenzo al Verano church near Rome, in what can only be described as an act of sheer madness. Galliani was being escorted to the church by his entourage, who quickly jumped into action to defend the bald-headed chief. It is believed the thugs are angry with Galliani because he never saw eye to eye with Sensi in the past, and his presence at the funeral didn’t go down well with the Ultras, who tried everything to make a sad day even worse for the club. The entire Roma squad was present at the proceedings, with Julio Baptista also paying tribute. This latest act of violence comes just days after a group of Lecce fans assaulted former Juventus star Antonio Conte. It seems as if violence is moving away from the stadium and onto the street as Italy continually fails to clamp down on the thugs ruining calcio’s image.
