He will continue to earn € 5.5m per season and will pen a new deal until 2014. Totti is expected to extend his contract by the end of this term and it would mean a 25 year career with the Giallorossi by the time he hangs up his boots. The playmaker is currently recovering from injury and he should be back in action for the game against Palermo in week two of the Serie A season. The Italian international’s current deal expires in 2010 but the club have so far failed to get him to sign on for the future. Speculation that he would leave was rife all summer but the Giallorossi have now finally decided to make their player’s future safe. Tuttomercatoweb claims that Aquilani will sit down with his agent and father alongside Roma directors Bruno Conti and Daniele Prade in order to work towards an agreement. Reports claim the player’s salary, currently €2.2m per season, will be doubled and Roma will offer him a four year deal. The club need to move quick and ensure Aquilani pens a new contract because they could risk losing him on a free transfer. Roma fought off big money offers this summer with the idea of keeping him and they would be furious if he left on a Bosman. The club are hoping to challenge for the Scudetto and Champions League and keeping Aquilani would represent a major achievement given the fact that he could have joined Juventus, Inter and Real Madrid in the summer.
