標題請問電化學..工作電極的極限產生

在唸書時
唸到這樣一句話：The positive potential limitations are caused by the
large currents that develop due to oxidation of the water to give molecular
oxygen.
我個人這樣翻：正電位的極限，是起因於當水氧化為O2時所產生的大電流。
可是我覺得這樣翻怪怪的
況且，我不懂為什麼水氧化成O2就是正電位的極限呢？
希望有人可以幫我解答一下
正在了解工作電極正負電位極限是如何決定的...
