I don't like to correct people's grammar here. I come to Eng-talk to read and to write; I frequent Eng-Class and Translator boards where I do discuss grammar, collocations, appropriate usages, best translations, and a host of other topics relevant to English learners and bilingual professionals alike. I have absolutely no problem with ESL learners writing and posting here, I just wonder how often such learners get useful feedback through this board. I have yet to see a single comment here that specifically addresses a writer's grammatical issues; most comments are of the type "dude you need to write better, there are a lot of mistakes" without getting into the specifics of what those mistakes might be. I love reading what people have to say, regardless of the writer's English ability, but if you're hoping to get corrections and pointers, I don't think you're at the right board. Oh, and I am totally against people mixing English and Chinese together, whether speaking or writing. That's a pet peeve of mine. I detest those self- professed yuppies in Taipei throwing English words in their sentences as if it makes what they have to say more interesting. Whenever someone does that I would switch to English and expect them to reply in English as well.
