What do you like about it? I've been learning since I was studying at a kindergarten. But my English skills still aren't pretty good I thought! English is my major, Japanese is my minor, Cantonese Chinese is my favorite! Learning languages is not only a subject, but also is a habbit to me! Sometimes, it will make you feel stressful, but when you can talk with other people or just say something in a foreign language, I think it brings more sences of achievement and other good things! Listening, speaking,reading, writting and translation, Reading is the best part of my English five main skills. Speaking is the worst, but I won't give up it! I've been looking forward to any chance to speak in English (Cantonese)! Any tips about learning English? *[1;9mListening ->*[m I couldn't understand any lyrics English songs by listening before. But I REALLY WANT TO improve my listening skills, so I were listening to songs and reading lyrics time after time. Tried to understand what the DJs said on ICRT, CNN and even any English sentence, messages on the textbook. I've never go abroad or go to any cram school before,but I can understand almost every sentence what my American class teacher said. *[1;9mSpeaking ->*[m When I reading any sentence or vocabulary in English, I'll to declaim it. DO NOT AFRAID OF BEING DERIDE! Just like, if you meet a foreigner who is asking you "how to go ...", but he can't speak Mandarin very fluently. And his grammar and pronunciation also have many mistakes, would you tell him the correct direction or just laugh at him loudly? I think you won't laugh at him, and you'll appreciate his courage. So don't be afraid! Just open you mouth! You don't need to pronounce as well as a native speaker, you only need to let other people what you saying, that's enough :-) *[1;9mReading ->*[m I don't like to remember vocabularies. I don't like to holding a vocabulary book anytime. So I tried to make a environment which is filled with ENGLISH! For example, I set my Facebook into English(US) edition. I remembered more vocabularies without any pain XD Just see one and other ones day after day! But you still can't give up to remember the vocabularies on your textbook! Trying to read English message, at least reading one every day. *[1;9mWritting ->*[m I think I must have wrong grammar or words in this message, but I'm not a native speaker, that can't be avoided~ DO NOT TAKE IT-- "I'm not a native speaker" TO BE YOUR EXCUSE!!! Although it's truth(you aren't a native speaker), you still can't let it be obstacle on your learning road. Don't need to learn grammar very hard. When we learned Mandarin when we were little children, did your teacher, mom or dad told you "you have to say a completet sentence anytime, or I'll break your legs!"? Just kidding(breaking your legs XD) I mean, your mother won't ask you say"I WANT TO DRINK A CUP OF MILK" everytime when you want to drink a cup of milk? It's too long! Maybe you only need to take 5 seconds and you can get what you want. You can say"want, dirnk, milk", and your mother'll know what you want. We learned Chinese grammar by talking, so I think you don't need to talk too much time on studying grammar, just reading more and speaking more. ps. it still doesn't mean you can skip your grammar studying, just let you know-- you don't need to study it too hard, or your English will be too stiff!
