Winner of two Grand Slam tennis events and six other tournaments
during the qualifying year, more than any other ATP player. The
unquestioned highlight was his win at Wimbledon when he was in
magnificent form throughout the tournament. He also won in
Houston, Marseille, Dubai, Munich, Halle and Vienna. He began
2004 in explosive form, becoming World No.1 during the course of
the Australian Open, eventually winning his second Grand Slam,
beating Marat Safin in the Melbourne final.
