First team coach Gus Poyet believes the spectacular 6-4 game with Reading less than a week ago in the Barclays Premier League will have no bearing on Saturday’s FA Cup Third Round clash with the Royals. We had to come from behind three times to take the points in a thrilling match at White Hart Lane, but Gus hopes we can make life a lot easier for ourselves this time around. Gus was lucky enough to win the FA Cup as a player, so he knows how special the competition is and he is already dreaming of returning to Wembley. He said: “I think the 6-4 was a one-off. I don’t think it will happen again and this is the FA Cup. We really care about the FA Cup so we have to go and win the game. We have to defend better, keep attacking in the same way and try to win it. “I don’t think there is a better final than the FA Cup, even if the Carling Cup is at Wembley as well. The FA Cup is the FA Cup. It would be great for everyone to be involved in the final and to win it and that’s something we’re all aware of. We have to make sure we go for it.” Gus also insists we have to be prepared for Reading’s strongest XI when they visit The Lane, even though changes are expected to the team they fielded last Saturday. Our First Team Coach added: “We have to be ready for everything. We have to approach it as if they are playing their best team, playing the best game of the season and they are going to be the most difficult team to beat on that day. “If we go out there with that mentality, we’ll have a big chance to win the game.
