National Taiwan University has a plethora of student clubs, including music clubs such as NTU Rock Club (椰風搖滾社團). NTU Rock has a considerably long and rich history, being established around 1977. It started as a platform for band practices in the First Student Activity Center (活大) and has continually evolved to grow into a large club with various opportunities such as bringing in guest speakers to do demonstrations and give lectures; offering music lessons in guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards; organizing weekly jams; and finishing each semester with its own rock concert (NTU Rock Night)! Whether you are a seasoned veteran or never touched an instrument before, there are plenty of opportunities to meet new people, learn, and have fun. During the semester you WILL join bands with other members and practice for weekly jams and the NTU Rock Night. Also, there are lots of members with different tastes in rock music, ranging from indie to metal to funk to punk to shoegaze to pop, so don't worry about music tastes. But that isn't all NTU Rock Club has to offer, it goes beyond the music too. Weekly lunches and hangouts, travel, going out to see live shows, language lessons, and other activities will allow you to immerse yourself into Taiwan's culture. Presently, NTU Rock Club is divided into 6 houses for an even greater "family" feeling. You will learn lots of things about language, culture, music, people, and life! We also look forward to learning from you too!
