Asked if Nintendo needed to beat out rivals Sony and Microsoft in order for Wii to become a success, Reggie commented: "We certainly want to and between the success we've had with the Nintendo DS in the handheld space and the success we see with the Wii, Nintendo can become the dominant player again in this industry. And certainly that's my focus. "It's interesting, though. In order for me to win, must they fail? I don't think so. Because they're trying to do something very different. But our goal is to be the leader in this industry -- not only from an innovation standpoint, but also from a market share as well." Unlike GameCube, which was very similar to PlayStation 2 and Xbox in features in capabilities, Wii is radically different from either PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. At the core of this difference is an innovative new controller that translates 3D movement by the user into on-screen action.
