You're always wondering what's going on
Elsewhere
While you type away at your keyboard
Or wait for the next bus.
Surely something is happening
Somewhere else,
Surely others are having fun
Or getting laid
Or raking in a fortune
While you sit through this lecture.
All the interesting things happen to other people,
You think as you flip through the TV guide.
The phone rings.
Do you want to go see a movie? she asks.
Sorry, I'm busy. Another time, perhaps.
You hang up.
I wonder what everyone else is doing . . . .
