之前去申請駕照，居然找不到台灣(Taiwan)，
只有 Taiwan, Province of China，
偏偏駕照又不能賭氣不要...
一肚子氣回家後，我先是直接e-mail負責駕照事務的
Dept of Public Safety (DPS)，相當然爾沒有回應...
後來我開始e-mail我們這區的議員，
剛開始得到的回應很唬爛，說他們的系統是跟著聯邦系統等等:
[DPS] must follow the federal policy as far as recognition of
foreign entities. I have copied below the information I found
at the U.S. Dept. of State website regarding Taiwan where DPS
referred me. Therefore, until the U.S. Dept. of State changes
their position, the State of Texas cannot change this.

其實他給我的網站頂端分明寫著"Official name: Taiwan"，
跟美國願不願意支持台灣獨立一點關係都沒有，於是我不死心回他：
I understand the formal position of the United States. However,
my point is that Taiwan is not a "Province of China." Its
official name is either "Taiwan" or "Republic of China" or even
"Chinese Taipei" as it is in the Olympics. As you can see from
the article you forwarded to me, Taiwan was never referred to
as a "province of China." On the Department of State website,
the official name is listed as "Taiwan." ( Please see:
http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/bgn/35855.htm ) Thus if DPS needs
to be in accordance with the U.S. Department of State, I
believe the Department of Public Safety's database (and that
of other State agencies') ought to be updated to change
"Taiwan, Province of China" to its official name "Taiwan."
過了兩個禮拜，我收到回信：
I just spoke with a representative from DPS. You will be pleased
(I hope) to know that a request has been submitted to change the
"drop down" menu to read solely Taiwan. My contact indicated
that it may be the first of the year before this change goes
into effect, but your inquiry most definitely caused this change
to be requested. You should receive a response directly from DPS
as well, but I wanted to tell you as soon as possible. Thank you
for taking the matter into your own hands, I commend you for
making the effort to right a wrong.
總之，鼓勵大家多多寫信去個機關幫台灣正名!

不過看來已經很多人去煩他們過了...

FAQ第一個就是講台灣，
不過我覺得這個"politically neutral"很唬爛，
province of china哪裡neutral了?! 吼...
只好還是大家加油一個一個去更正吧!

剛越想越氣，寫了封信去

主要是說他們根據不承認台灣的UN名稱一點也不中立，
若ISO自認中立的話，應該要用台灣也可以接受的名稱，
如奧林匹克運動會、WTO、WHA所使用的Chinese Taipei...
(我是想說再怎樣也至少不要被叫中國的一省)
