Cassetti: I've chosen Roma Wednesday 24 May, 2006 Italian international full-back Marco Cassetti claims he’ll sign a contract wit h Roma before the end of this week. “Everything is in place and I’ll put pen to paper by the weekend,” he told ‘ Il Romanista’ newspaper today. “I want to get back into the Azzurri squad and know that I can achieve that by playing at the Stadio Olimpico.” Lecce opted to sell Cassetti following their relegation into Serie B and he had been heavily linked with Milan, Juventus and Inter before picking the Gialloross i as his next destination. Cassetti made his international debut in the 0-0 draw against Iceland on March 3 0, 2005, but hasn’t been able to add to his two caps since June that same year. The full-back, who can also play in a more advanced role and at times this seaso n acted in a trident attack, will turn 29 on Monday. Cassetti could be joined at Roma by Empoli midfielder Sergio Almiron, who is als o a known target for Inter.
