Totti seemed to have picked up a knock on his knee following a free kick, he went down in pain but incredibly he continued. It was not a wise move as, soon after, he had a shot and twisted his knee and this time it was serious. There are now fears that he will be out for six months after Mario Brozzi, the club medic, confirmed the worst. “Francesco had told us about a knock on his knee, but at first it didn’t seem serious and so he played on,” Brozzi told Sky Sport Italia. “After a few minutes he went down again and he felt his knee give way and so we decided he could not continue. “We have taken a closer look and the examination has revealed that he has damaged his cruciate ligament in his right knee. “Within the next few hours Professor Pierpaolo Mariani will analyse the situation and he will decide on the best cause of action. “We will see what happens tomorrow but the chances are that his season is over. “Again we will see what happens tomorrow as to whether he will need an operation.” It’s bad news for Roma and for Totti who is once again hampered by injury in a career which has been plagued by injuries.
