Available Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in Cancer Immunology and Vacci nology A postdoctoral fellow position is available for a qualified and determined you ng scientist in the laboratory of Dr. T.C. Wu and Dr. Chien-Fu Hung. The lab i s a part of the Department of Pathology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Laboratory Research Focus The research focus in the Wu/Hung Lab broadly encapsulates areas of immunology and immunotherapy. The historical focus of the lab is in understanding the mo lecular mechanisms of Human Papilloma Virus infection with the goal of guiding development of new prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines. Specifically, we ar e working to engineer and test novel biologic immunotherapies and fusion prote ins with tumor targeting properties. The targeted mechanism of action for thes e novel therapies is to reverse the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment a nd drive anti-tumor immunity. The lab develops and utilizes new spontaneous mo dels of cancer to test the efficacy of these interventions. Ideal Candidate Qualifications Highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree are encouraged t o apply. A strong background in immunology and record of accomplishment (first -author publications) is required. Proficiency in classical immunologic and mo lecular biology techniques including primary cell culture, rodent handling, cl oning, ELISA, and multi-parameter flow cytometry are needed for success in thi s position. In addition, a candidate with excellent communication skills, ability to fluen tly speak English, and scientific writing abilities are required. The candidat e must be able to work independently and collaboratively within a larger resea rch team. The candidate must have excellent analytical skills, be creative, be able to learn and troubleshoot new techniques, maintain accurate records, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
