Update:
Otsuka will work as the Rangers' closer while Eric Gagne (elbow) opens the
season on the DL and gets more work in this spring, the Dallas Morning News
reports.
Recommendation:
Gagne isn't injured according the Rangers, but instead needs extra
conditioning in the minors before he can assume the closer's job in Texas.
Otsuka figures to be one of the more valuable set-up men in the league given
Gagne's injury history and limitations heading into the season.
