This very Yankee player is Chien-Ming Wang. The reason that I refer to him as a "Yankee player" instead of his name is that some guys on the Yankee board almost always pop out, shouting "scram back to Wang's message board" immediately after a thread about Wang is posted. What's wrong with Wang? Isn't he a Yankee's SP, now playing for your beloved team? No! There is nothing wrong with Wang. Really, the question is what's wrong with the Yankee board? More specifically what's wrong with those who hate the guts of Wang but call themselves as Yankee's fans? The way some Wang haters talk about Wang makes me wonder that either that is not a Yankee territory or that Wang plays for Boston. Here I challenge those Wang hater to the statement "Wang is the ace of Yank's SP last season and this season so far."팊 I'll give you some facts for you to chew before you answer. Fact 1: Wang won 19 games last season with an ERA of 3.63, making him the 2nd place in AL Cy-Young competition. Fact 2: Wang was the opener of last seasons' play-off and won the only game against the Detroit. Fact 3: Wang has won 16 games this season so far, leading the whole MLB, let alone his club. Fact 4: In this difficult year against the Sox, Wang contributed three among the eight wins over Boston (3W1L), most of all the pitching staff. I agree that Andy is a great SP and beats Wang in some aspects, such as SO or K9 but Wang is stronger in other ways, SLG or HR for example. Andy may have a slightly lower ERA (3.79 vs. 3.70) but Wang leads in WHIP (1.27 vs.1.38), AVG (0.266 vs. 0.278), BB9 and H9 in the current season. I don't understand why some guys keep bashing Wang as if he is just a lucky guy stealing his way to the leading position of the league. I don't understand why those Wang haters are ashamed of their fellow countryman as the ace of their favorite MLB team. Some may think of racism in the States but here in Taiwan, I don't know how to explain that. Inferiority complex? Maybe. Some guys claimed that he had some weak points here and there (mainly on his low K9) so he could not make an ace. Someone dismissed Wang simply as a regular SP on mid-rotation, probably number 3~4 or 2~3. Then tell me who deserves the term last season and this season so far better than Wang did. Someone even said that Wang is not ranked at the top 30 SP of the whole leagues so how can he be the ace of the Yanks. First of all we are talking about Yankee's SP ace without anything to do with other teams' great pitchers. Even so, I'd like to challenge you to list your top 30 SP this season and let's compare them with Wang. I'll admit that arguing for someone as the best player of a team is hardly meaningful.
