NL TOP5 Relievers

1.RHP Trevor Hoffman, Padres.
His changeup has been dazzling for more than a decade.
Hoffman had two damaging blown saves in the final week
last season, but he should bounce back.
2.RHP Takashi Saito, Dodgers.
Saito, who has converted 63 of 69 save chances in his
two seasons in the majors, makes up for limited velocity
with superb command of his fastball and the ability to
change speeds.
3.RHP Carlos Marmol, Cubs.
His .169 opponents' batting average was second only to
Saito's (.151) among N.L. relievers. Marmol can pile up
strikeouts, and his control should improve with experience.
4.RHP Jose Valverde, Astros.
He pounds opponents with a 98-mph fastball and is effective
against lefthanders and righthanders. He benefited from
D-backs' deep bullpen last season, going more than one
inning in only two of his 47 saves.
5.RHP Jason Isringhausen, Cardinals.
He came back from career-threatening hip surgery to throw
knee-locking curveballs and show unexpected durability
by converting all 11 save chances when pitching on
consecutive days.
