标题[BA ] mid season top 100

8. Alex Bregman ss
The Swanson-Bregman debate has raged for years, and Bregman is still
making a strong case.
Swanson:
Swanson vs. Bregman … it’s the 2015 SEC all over again. Most of the
scouts I have talked to over the years about these two prefer Swanson
because of his tools and athleticism. Most of the COACHES I talked to
in college about them preferred Swanson; he has that little extra that
coaches loved, that competitiveness, that knack for the big moment. I
am surprised by Bregman’s power as a pro; maybe I should take that
more into consideration than all the evaluators I have talked ato about
them over the last couple of years, going back to the 2014 USA Collegiate
National Team. But I’ll stick with 2 years of evidence over 3 months.
Bregman
29. Francis Martes rhp
Looks like himself after rough start at Double-A: 1.80 ERA, .213 AVG
and 8.6 SO/9 since mid-May.
32. Joe Musgrove rhp
Pinpoint control has been taken to a new level this season, with just
nine walks in 71 1/3 innings.
35. Kyle Tucker of
First full season a smash for last year’s No. 5 overall pick, on pace
for a .300 average and 47 steals.
47. David Paulino rhp
Once a throw-in in Jose Veras trade, his fastball and 11-to-5 curveball
draw plus grades. Like Jorge Mateo, he’s serving a team suspension as
well.
94. Derek Fisher of
Fisher’s power-speed combo could play on a corner, and he’s continued
to improve defensively, playing center field every day in Double-A.
Proswagonist (Liberl):
Did Franklin Perez or Albert Abreu garner any consideration for the list?
Vincent Lara-Cinisomo:
I can tell you neither really did. I like Abreu. I saw him pitch this
year and
he was an easy 96 mph. He needs to learn to command his pitches
better, but the stuff is there.

BP ranking for top 50
4. Alex Bregman, SS/3B, Houston Astros
Why He'll Succeed:
His plate discipline and knack for contact enable him to punish balls
in the zone, making up for a lack of premium raw power and allowing
the bat to function at third as well as short.
Why He Might Fail:
The first-half power surge is more mirage than oasis, making the bat
less palatable at the hot corner. He’s still pretty good.
33. Francis Martes, RHP, Houston Astros
Why He’ll Succeed:
His primetime fastball-curve combination overwhelms right-handed
hitters and his hard change keeps lefty barrels off the ball enough
that he could fulfill his destiny as one of the great complex ball
scouting heists in league history.
Why He Might Fail:
If his swagger on the bump too routinely blurs the line of stubbornness,
he might never develop enough trust in his change and nibbles too
frequently, forcing a move to the bullpen (where he can still be
really, really good).
40. Kyle Tucker, OF, Houston Astros
Why He'll Succeed:
If he continues to spray line drives to all fields and grows into the
current projectable frame, he'll provide the power that many are
anticipating, culminating in a player who can impact the game at the
plate and on the bases.
Why He Might Fail:
It’s pretty much all projection for his power, and that power is
going to be a prerequisite rather than a luxury if he ends up in a
corner.
