George Martin自小学习钢琴 後来又学双簧管 任职Parlophone Records时(当时是EMI的子公司) 除了制作古典乐唱片 也制作流行歌曲和喜剧脱口秀 1962年Martin与Brain Epstein会面後 开始与披头四合作 他不但制作了大部分披头四歌曲 负责其中的管弦乐编写 不时支援乐器演奏(例如"In My Life"的钢琴独奏) 并在<Yellow Submarine>原声带提供了6首演奏曲 Martin也和其他艺人合作 1995年Elton John出版专辑<Made in England> 其中"Latitude"就穿插了Martin编的管弦乐 "And latitude Fold back the morning and bring on the night There's an alien moon That hangs between darkness and light Latitude between me and you You're a straight line of distance A cold stretch of black across blue Latitude" "Latitude"的旋律本来就暖洋洋的很舒服 Martin的管弦乐一出 更让人精神一振 —— Lennon-McCartney的脑力激荡固然是披头四成功的基础 但披头四做为一个团队 除了台面上的四人 Martin,Phil McDonald,Geoff Emerick等幕後班底 客座的Billy Preston,Eric Clapton,Brian Jones 甚至Harrison那些印度歌里的无名印度乐手们 都有各自的贡献 缺一不可 --
