After collection, blood should be allowed to clot for 30-60 min at 37C 2. The clot should then be separated from the sides of the collection vessel (ringing)using a Pasteur pipette, straightened paper clip, or similar instrument. Place the colt at 4C overnight allow it to contract. 3. The serum should then be removed from the clot and any remaining insoluble material removed by centrifugation at 10,000g for 10 min at 4C After separation, serum can be stored for many year at -20C or below. --
