Seeing how strong the Canadian dollar is right now, it is much cheaper to
shop online from US websites.
Many major online retailers of musical instruments offer free shipping on
orders over US$99, and many products can be shipped to Canada.
For example, Musician's Friend, Music123, Guitar Center, etc.
In my experience, the Canadian Customs tax and the UPS handling fee combined
is no more than 15%, same or less than the two sales taxes in most provinces,
even for large packages such as a bass guitar plus a small practice amp.
