That may be the understatement of the century after the 11-player deal that saw 4 new players take the place of 6 departures. Most agree that the players that were added, at the bare minimum, will give the Cavaliers better spacing to allow LeBron James more room to get the job done. This, combined with injuries to Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Anderson Varejao, Sasha Pavlovic and Daniel Gibson, have left the Cavs in a state of flux. Fortunately for Cleveland, LeBron James doesn’t deal well with Flux. Fortunately for LeBron, come playoff time, this team should be ready to showcase it’s new look. Zydrunas Ilgauskas is the offensive piece to this puzzle. When healthy, he possesses a solid outside game, is a good garbage player, and can rebound. His forte isn’t defense, but he’s the guy that can keep the big men honest defensively. He’s also the heart and soul of the team. If Z is the heart of the team, than Anderson Varejao is the soul. AV can defend for sure, dives for every ball, and keeps the Cavs moving when on the court. His offensive game is equal to a box full of nothing. Ben Wallace should be bringing some defensive menace to this team. His offensive game is reminiscent of Varejao’s, but that isn’t why the Cavaliers traded for the forward. He brings defense and rebounding. He also brings a presence. We haven’t seen it yet, but it’s there. Joe Smith is the ultimate professional. He has a decent offensive game, can rebound, and fits into any system. He’s a guy with experience, who will help in crunch time. It’s uncertain how Mike Brown will use these four, but it’s believed that he’ll have to have either Z or Smith on the floor, with either Varejao or Wallace. Z and Smith on the floor will leave a bit of a defensive hole underneath, while Varejao and Wallace on the court at the same time leaves LeBron open to triple coverage because their offense is so bad. The Point Guard play will be vastly improved, and varied enough to put opposing defenses on their heals 肆、控球後卫大进步，而且会对对方防守造成压力。 That’s right, I said it. Delonte West and Daniel Gibson aren’t the strongest part of the Cavaliers, but they will be certainly be a major factor, and finally, an asset to this ballclub. Both guards bring some similarities and differences. West and Gibson are both hybrid guards, who have both spent time as both shooting guards and point guards. Both seem to have defensive issues. Past that, the similarites end. He’s not a sharpshooter, but can attack the basket. West is a pace-setter. He’s a guy that’s going to get the ball and push the defense. If he finds his range, he’ll tear your heart art from behind the arc. Seeing West and Gibson alternating at the point guard spot should be fun to watch. What will really be interesting is when they are on the court together. It won ’t happen often, but look for it in certain offensive situations. Cleveland might have the best depth in the league, once healthy 参、一但健康，骑士队可能是最有深度的一支球队。 At center, the Cavs can play four different players if they wanted to, in Smith, Wallace, Varejao and Ilgauskas. At power forward, the Cavs four guys, in Wallace, Varejao, Smith and LeBron. At small forward the Cavs have three guys in Wally Szczerbiak, Sasha Pavlovic and of course, LeBron. At small guard, you could have Szczerbiak, Pavlovic, Devin Brown, Damon Jones, Daniel Gibson, and Delonte West. The point position could be filled with Gibson, West, DJones, DBrown and even LeBron in a pinch. For those counting at home, that’s 11 players in the mix. The Cavs finally have outside shooting 贰、骑士终於有外线啦!!!!!!!! With Donyell Marshall, Ira Newble and Larry Hughes gone from this team, there is more opportunity for player that can actually score from outside. Enter Wally Szczerbiak, the aforementioned Daniel Gibson and believe it or not, Damon Jones. Both Jones and Gibson are shooting well above 40% from behind the arc. Szczerbiak is at 38% for the Cavaliers, but should improve. Here’s all that needs to be said. If these three continue to shoot around, or better than 40%, LeBron James will destroy teams, and yeah, I mean even more than normal. LeBron is in the middle of his greatest season , that’s not a question. When Danny Ferry pulled of the deal, you could almost feel LeBron come out of his skin in excitement. Of course, before the trade, LeBron was on his way to his second straight Eastern Conference player of the month award. Since the deal, LeBron’s averaging nearly 35 points per game, 7 1/2 assists a game, and 7 1/2 boards. He’s shooting over 50% from the field.
