A true 5-tool talent with the ability to be a an impact player on all facets of the game. Justin posesses amazing bat speed , making him a bigger version of his brother BJ . He shows the same type of quiet hitting approach with plus power to all fields with advanced plate discipline for a player his age. However like his brother, there have been questions as to whether he can stay at his natural position at shortstop, as he has showed inconsistency all throughout his high school career. The D’Backs however seem committed to keep him at short until he proves he just can’t play the position, but with the presence of fellow stud prospect and shortstop Stephen Drew, someone has to make a position switch sooner rather then later. No matter what position he plays, Upton is a future big league star, and will start his road to the big leagues in 2006 at Low A South Bend in the Midwest league. Posessing a sweet left handed swing, Drew has all the skills to be an above average shortstop both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. However like his brother there are questions about his work ethic and intensity as some scouts feel that he doesn’t go hard all the time and loses interest during the game, still Drew is a great talent and could be the D’Backs starting shortstop as soon as 06’. With Royce Clayton a free agent and Alex Cintron a better utility guy, Drew could win the job outright in the spring, even though I feel he could use some more seasoning at the Triple A. ETA: Midseason 2006 躲人外野手 J.D Drew 的老弟，史蒂芬是另一个被认为是当年前舞顺位但是因 为是 Bora$的客户，所以往下掉到 15 的响尾蛇手上。有着非常棒的左打挥击， 特鲁不论在防守或攻击上都在游击区能够当个过平均的游击手。不过和他哥一样 都有工作伦理的问题，有些球探说他在场上有时候不是那麽专心，也不是永远都 非常认真，不过特鲁还是非常有天分，而最块可能在 06 年就在响尾蛇的游击区 先发。当 课雷顿已经跑了，而 新特朗看起来是个比较偏向工具人的的时候，特 鲁可能在今年春天就赢得这份工作，虽然我认为他可能还是需要一点在 3A 的时 间啦。 预测：2006 20-Conor Jackson, 1B, R/R, 6’2/225, DOB: 5/7/82-Arizona Diamondbacks http://tinyurl.com/pb6ff One of the best hitters in the Minors, Jackson projects to be above average middle of the order threat at Major League level, while hold his own with the glove at first base. Originally drafted as a 3rd baseman out of Cal Berkeley, he moved to the outfield where he showed aptitude to be a above average leftfielder, but switched to 1st base in 2005 where he has adapted quickly. Generating plus bat speed, while making hard consistent contact, Jackson has great control of the strike-zone working pitchers into good hitting counts. Eerily similar to Marlins prospect Jeremy Hermida in approach, there is also some question whether Jackson will develop more power. One thing for certain though is his ability to put the ball in play, which makes me believe in time he will develop a power stroke. Jackson should be the Diamondbacks starting 1st baseman next season, as Chad Tracy looks to move across the diamond to third following the Troy Glaus trade , and Tony Clark, while having a great season in 05’ go’s back to a role more suited for him, as a power bat off the bench.ETA:2006 小联盟系统里面最好的打者之一，捷克森被认为是个拿着手套在一垒，然後会 在打序里面排在中间的大联盟球员。本来是在 UC 博客来以三垒手身份被选走的 他，他被移到外野去，也表现出他可以当个超过平均的左外野手，而当他 05 年 被换到一垒去的时候，他也很快的学会了这个工作。挥棒挥得很快，也可以制造 出持续而有利的挥击，捷克森可以掌握好球带，并且让投手投很多球。就像马玲 鱼的 贺密达一样， 捷克森也有不知道可不可以更有力的疑问。捷克森可能会是 明年小蛇的一垒手，当吹西在格老子的交易之後，被移过了整个钻石内野到了三 垒去之後，克拉课在零五年比他做这个工作作的更好，所以他会是在板凳上的一 个大棒子，这个角色应该还蛮是适合他的。 21-Carlos Quentin, OF, R/R, 6’1/225, DOB:8/28/82- Arizona Diamondbacks http://tinyurl.com/lvvg5 Drafted in the end of the 1st round due to injury problems back in 2003, Quentin has made a meteoric rise through the D’Backs system. A prototypical right fielder with a strong arm and adequate speed for a big man, the D’Backs moved him to centerfield for the second half of 2005 to speed up his ascent to the majors as well as fill a need. Reminding me a lot of a young Jose Canseco as Quentin has the same body type and skill set. (NO I’m not saying Quentin is a steroid user.) He looks to be a .260-.300 hitter at the major league level , while produce the power RBI’s to be a middle of the order threat. He looks to spend a good part of 2006 back in Tuscon, as the D’Backs are stuck with aging outfielders whose contracts are to big to move. However once Quentin gets called up I expect him to stay up, as I fully expect him to be an everyday outfielder for the D’Backs by 2007.ETA:2007 因为背部的受伤问题所以在 2003 年第一轮最後面才被选，昆听已经在响尾蛇 的小联盟系统里面上升快速。一个有着强壮肩力和对高的人来说不错臂力的右外 野手原型，响尾蛇 2005 年中段把他移去中外野，为了以後队上的守备位置需要 ，还有让他早点上去。（这段语法要相反我懒了）他让我想起坎赛柯，因为他有 着和他一样的体型和强项。（喔我没有说他吃类固醇）他看起来在大联盟会是个 两成六到三成的打者，并且会打中心棒次，很多打点。他看起来明年会在土桑待 一阵子，因为响尾蛇的外野手有一堆长约的老人在。不管，反正如果他被叫上去 的话，我猜他会就这样待在上面，所以我认为他在 2007 年可以变成天天先发的 外野手。 26-Chris Young, OF, R/R, 6’2”/182, DOB: 9/5/83-Arizona Diamondbacks http://tinyurl.com/mzzex Acquired in the Javier Vazquez deal with the White Sox, Chris Young was 16th round pick by the White Sox in 2001, and has five-tool star written all over him. Young’s most notable current tool is his speed, as he has the ability to swipe bases or run down balls in the gaps in centerfield. Young also has emerging power as he belted 26 HRs this year. As Young bulks up, look for 30-30 seasons from him in the future. However, Young is not a lock to be a stud. He still struggles with making contact, but showed improvement as the last season progressed .It appears as if Young’s approach is improving as he boosted his walks and cut down his strikeouts. The ability to hit for average also remains a question for Young, but his .277 average was 20 points higher than his career average. He has been compared to Mike Cameron, but can be a much better hitter than Cameron currently is. At his peak, Young could put up a .275/.370/.575 line with 35 HRs and 30 SBs. He will start 2006 at Triple A Tuscon and is the Diamondbacks centerfielder of the future. In 2005 ,Gonzales was able to stay on the field and showed the talent that everyone knew he had. Winning the Midwest League MVP in 06’, hitting .307 with 18 HR and 92 runs batted in , he was easily the most consistent and potent bat in South Bend’s lineup. Built a lot like Blue Jays outfielder and former top prospect Alexis Rios , Carlos has natural loft power with his left-handed stroke with improving strikezone judgement. Defensively Gonzales shows a strong arm and good range, which makes him look like a fit in rightfield. However with the presence of Carlos Quentin , left field will be Gonzales home if he was to stay in an Arizona uniform, making D’Back fans excited about the potential of a young stud outfield of Gonzales, Young, Quentin in the very near future.
