The Diamondbacks entered Wednesday leading the majors with 253 strikeouts in
31 games, an average of 8.16 per game. That puts them on pace for 1,322
strikeouts, and while that’s way, way behind the major league record of
1,529 strikeouts set by the Diamondbacks two years ago, it’s still a total
that has manager Kirk Gibson displeased.
