标题[文法] 省略主词疑问

在做passive voice题目(azar 4the p226)遇到几个问题，想请问各位 :
1.In the mechanical process, [someone grinds the wood] into small chips.
[wood is ground ]
想请问[]的wood是否缺了the，我知道前面如果提及过的事物到下个句子要the(指定)，
因为原句是有the的所以不应该是被省略的，还是因为被动的关系呢? 想问是不是答案有误
2.[Someone drains the pulp] to form a thick mass, [bleaches it] with chlorine,
[The pulp is drained ] [is breached]
and then [thoroughly washes it] again.
[is thoroughly washed]
依照[]中，好像有主词省略的用法，前面章节没有讲到这部分，只有讲到主词一致用代名
词替代，是因为代名词用太多次不想再用所以直接省略掉，还是有其他用法呢?
主动的部分省略someone，而被动可以省略by someone因为不重要，不过主词好像不能省
略? 请问各位该怎麽思考?
