标题[请益] the rest/remaining/remainder of

如题，想请问 the rest of 、 the remaining of 和 the remainder of 的差异。
之前听澳洲老师说前两个片语的差别在後面接可数或不可数，
听一听实在不记得了......
以前在书上看过 the rest of the day 的用法，
所以 the remaining of 後面是接可数吗？
这阵子跟外国店家通信时，
看过 the remaining of the money 和 the remainder of $xxx 的字句，
让我越来越混乱了。
上网查，有看到网友说这三个片语是意思的不同，
就像 be going to 和 will 不同，
但也没有太详尽的解释，希望这里有高手能帮忙解答，谢谢。
