标题[单字] franchise意思

想请问版上franchise这个单字的意思及用法，
查字典大概知道franchise是政府赋予的权利或特许经销权
实际看很多字典的例句，也看得很顺，
如剑桥字典的例句：He lost the franchise after failing to meet the specified standards.
(他因为未达规定而失去经营权)
但常在西方网站或媒体上看到这个字，又好像不是字典上的意思，
我查vocabulary.com这个网站，

因为他有引用各处来源的例句方便我去理解
我截几个较短的例句上来，并附上我个人翻译

(所以可能很多人期待在家里赶上「权利」)

我完全翻不出他的原意@@
因为对这个字的不理解，很难理解整个句子的意思，
