标题[请益] 请问一句英文的意义？(20180520)

我最近看到一段英文如下所示：
I bought a new smartphone at the mall down the street.
我这个句子是在如下图所示的红色框框看到的

请问在这个句子中：
down这个字也是「在...下面」的意思吗？如果是这个意思，那这句话的意思是不是可以说
成「在街道下面的购物中心我买了一支新的智慧型手机」，这样说对吗？
