标题[文法] 引述他人说的一句话的正确时态？

He said two jerks means 'more slack' and three meant 'come up'...but he never said nothin' about one long, steady pull.
1.引述他人说过的话，这里用he said, 但看过用 he says 现在式，请问何者正确？
2.two jerks means ....three meant... 他人说过的话里面的动词该用现在式还是过去式？
3.never said nothing 应该去掉never吧？或改成never said anything...?
