I think this poem / lyric can be taken quite literally for its meaning
The vocabularies are not too hard
Basically I think the speaker is talking in third person's perspective
about this mother escaping family violence (probably) along with kids
strugling to hang on while still in lawsuit (divorce?)
realizing she still has the kids to take care of
"and years go by so fast / Wonder how [she] made it through"
is that good for you?
