Tension mounted, her hands sweated with piercing nervousness. Closing her eyes she counted to three, wondering if the situation could be any better. One. Several sparks popped out listlessly from the point of her half-damaged wand, making an unpleasant noise. Nothing happened. Her heart sank even more downwards. Two. Her heart pounded as she heard a distant banshee shriek. She felt the door with her trembling fingers. It remained as stubbornly locked as it had always been. Three, she uttered with almost self-abandonment. She was not even surprised when she opened her eyes, finding herself still trapped in the dungeon. Forming a frail smile, she lay her exhausted body on the dungeon ground. The ground was as rocky as one could ever imagine, yet she scarcely gave a second thought for her limbs were aching all over after such a fierce fight. Great, she murmured sarcastically. She closed her eyes once again, drowniong in an overwhelming despair. The world were going to be taken over, and those cowards would move on. And she, the one who had always fought against the stream, would die here, unoticed. Her disappearance would become a never-unveiled mystery, and those cowards would pass her stories to their timid descendants as a fable. She could even imagine their hypocritical tone: Yeah, that was how the insane witch ended. Bear in mind, kids, never try to conquer the tide. A whistle broke the choking silence. She got to her feet almost simultaneously. Outside the deadly locked window were a familiar pair of eyes. "Dax!?" she whispered breathlessly, couldn't believe her eyes. "How did you escape? I thought... I thought you didn't manage to survive." Dax gave her a melancholy stare, his foggy figure slightly shook with the howling wind. "Farewell, my love." he said. "Forgive me." Instantly, memories flooded out. She moaned as the last bit of energy found its way out of her cooling body. "Never trust anyone... and never be in love..." ~End~ -- creepy story... my hands started typing automatically as this plot came to my mind. hope you enjoy it :) -- --
