Van Bommel linked with Bayern

Holland international midfielder Mark van Bommel has
been tipped as the man to replace Michael Ballack at
Bayern Munich.
Bayern boss Felix Magath has repeatedly called for the
signing of a quality midfielder should Ballack leave
the Allianz Arena at the end of the season and van
Bommel, who is struggling to hold down a regular first
team berth at Barcelona, could well fit the bill.
"He is a very good player, a winner and a personality
on the pitch," Magath said on Wednesday.
"He can lead a team, otherwise he wouldn't be playing
for both Holland and Barcelona."
Bayern's Holland international striker Roy Makaay admitted
that he has tried to persuade van Bommel to agree to a
move to Die Bundesliga.
"I have already spoken to him about Bayern," Makaay told
SportBild.
Van Bommel joined Barca from PSV Eindhoven at the start
of the season after being linked with a move to Borussia
Dortmund in the summer.
