Scott and Lo Power Mavs to Victory 【By Alex Freedman / Mavericks Front Office】 Travis Scott hit a three-run homer and the Mavs pounded out 13 hits en route to a 7-5 win over Lancaster Friday night in Adelanto. After failing to win consecutive games against the JetHawks in 2007, the Mavs have taken the first two games of the season from Lancaster. Scott's sixth-inning ended up being the decisive hit. Up 4-2, Scott hammered a Blake Maxwell pitch to dead center to put the Mavs up by five. Scott has homered in both games of the season and remains the only Maverick to hit one out. Prior to Scott's homer, the Mavs squandered bases loaded opportunities in consecutive innings. In both the fourth and fifth, the Mavs loaded the bases with one out, but couldn't get a single run home either time. The Mavs stranded 10 runners on bases through the first five innings and 11 total for the game. Four Mavs including Scott had multi-hit efforts. Kuo Hui Lo followed up his heroics from Thursday night by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. The one time he was retired, he hit a sharp line drive to third, caught by Jorge Jimenez. Johan Limonta went 3-for-4 and reached base safely four times, and Jamie McOwen reached base three times, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Pitching has usually been the issue for the Mavs when squaring off with the JetHawks. Starter Ricky Orta gave the Mavs five solid innings to pick up the win and advance to 1-0. He gave up two runs on four hits, walking three and striking out four. The Mavs bullpen surrendered only two earned runs over the final four innings. With the JetHawks down to their final strike, Jon Still was able to hit a two-run homer off David Asher. It was Still's second home run of the season. Making his JetHawks debut, Adam Mills fell to 0-1, giving up four runs on nine hits over four innings. Juan Zapata will attempt to lead the Mavericks to a series victory Saturday night when he squares off against Jimmy James and the JetHawks.
