线上m-w字典查到如下
可是defective 和 presumptive不是矛盾的吗??
所以我实在是很疑惑~这个字的意思到底是「用不够完整的证据来推断」呢
还是「有系统的推断」呢？

by surmise or guesswork c: a proposition (as in mathematics) before it has
been proved or disproved
