Nedved may come out of retirement
PRAGUE: Former European Footballer of the Year Pavel Nedved
of the Czech Republic might come out of international retirement,
Czech newspaper Mlada fronta Dnes reported Friday.
“I have spoken with him. There is a bigger chance that
he could return (to the national team),” teammate Vratislav Lokvenc
of VfL Bochum, and who has just signed for Salzburg, told the newspaper.
“I strongly hope he will return,” said another teammate,
Sparta Prague’s Karel Poborsky.
According to Mlada fronta Dnes, the 32-year-old Juventus midfielder,
who was voted European Footballer of the Year in 2003,
could appear in the Czechs’ friendly with Sweden in mid-August.
In September, the former Sparta Prague and Lazio player attributed
his health problems to his decision to quit the national team.
