Juve's Primavera squad are champions of Italy. Scenes of joyous celebration greeted the final whistle as the bianconeri ended a magnificent season in triumph, beating Fiorentina by 2-0 thanks to goals from Criscito (7') and Paolucci (37'). The win secures the Primavera championship for Juventus for the first time since 1994 and the squad were congratulated on their success by the new Director of Sporting Affairs, Alessio Secco. The match: The bianconeri coach sent his team onto the field in a 4-3-1-2 formation with Scarzanella in goal, Di Cuonzo, Zammuto, Criscito and Rossi in defence, Marchisio, Venitucci and De Ceglie in midfield, Giovinco playing off the two strikers and Paolucci and Volpe leading the attack. Only seven minutes had elapsed before Juventus were ahead: Giovinco's free-kick from the left hand side found Criscito in the box, whose well-placed header made it 1-0. Whilst Fiorentina tried to get themselves back into the game and created several dangerous opportunities, the majority of the possession and chances went the way of Juventus. Twenty minutes in and the bianconeri went close to doubling their advantage, Giovinco's free-kick striking the crossbar and beginning a series of opportunities for Chiarenza's squad; Rossi and Marchesio tried their luck before Paolucci struck wide on 28' minutes, forced the keeper into a good save on 31' and saw an acrobatic effort go just over before finally seizing his chance and putting Juve 2-0 ahead. With 37' passed Giovinco fed the young striker who sped into the opposition half on the counter-attack, beat a defender and smashed his shot into the back of the net. In the final minutes of the half Volpe's effort brushed the post whilst, at the other end, Zammuto deflected De Falco's effort wide for a corner. The second half began with the squads unchanged and Juventus looking increasingly dangerous. Only four minutes had passed when De Ceglie's effort was cleared for a corner, and minutes afterwards a blistering left-footed shot from Venituci brushed the post. A quarter of an hour later Scarzanella pulled off a fantastic save from a free-kick to deny Fiorentina a lifeline - it was to be one of the few moments his goal was troubled. From then on Juventus took charge of the game as they sought to increase their lead and kill off the game for good. Twenty-five minutes into the half Giovinco was again denied, although his performance merited the ‘Guerin d’Oro’ as man-of-the-match.
