Although he admits that he was a bag of nerves as he stepped towards the penalty area, his mind emptied of doubts once he placed the ball on the spot. “I was very tense beforehand and was undecided on where I'd shoot, but once the ball went down it all became clear,” he said. “After that, I have to say that I was fairly confident.” Del Piero说：「在轮到我之前我非常紧张而且没有决定该踢哪个点， 不过等到我把球摆好一切就很明朗了。」 Del Piero has come close to international glory on numerous occasions in the past, but was always unable to mirror the success he's had at club level.
