* Your thoughts on Pete coming back? Adelman:“It’s a great situation. Pete wanted to take last year and be back east around his family more, and he just felt it was time. I think as he was away during the year and he came back, he didn’t like the way it was. He wanted to be around more. We talked about it and I think it’s terrific. He does a great job with the players, he’s a great influence on me and his input is terrific. I’ve said it before, with John, Elston, and Terry, I have four great people. Last year when he decided not to do it, it was really his call. Adelman: “I think it was probably harder on my family. I think it just said to me the way of the world right now, because it was just one person. And that one person can start something that takes on a life of its own, which wasn’t really happening. And probably the only thing that really bothered me about that whole situation was that the first article came when we were still playing, and if you are going to write an article like that, write it when the season is over. I don’t mind anybody saying that I should have done this or I should have done that during the game— Marty (McNeal) does that all the time. I do mind it when someone has a fabrication out there and says something that isn’t true, or makes innuendos like its true. I mean, there are so many things that were said. If I can really control Chris Webber getting hurt, I’m a heck of a coach. If I’d known that I’d never have played him. There were just so many things that were said, that’s what amazed me, and then it took a life of its own. You just have to live with it. During the season is one thing. You might lose him for 10 games or we lost Chris for 20, but we were playing Cleveland and a lot of other teams. When we lost him last year, they didn’t send Cleveland, we had to play Dallas. That’s hard to lose your best player against a quality opponent. I feel good about our group and I feel this team still feels it can win. We just have to get healthy and get focused. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. Also, after spending last season as Special Assistant to President, Basketball Operations, Hall of Fame coach Pete Carril resumes his role as a full-time assistant coach on the Kings’ coaching staff.
