"Here's a pretty big surprise. The Kings have missed Bobby Jackson and needed
a guy who can shoot and penetrate."
-- Chad Ford, ESPN analyst
CBS Grade: C-
Douby went much higher than expected, and becomes another young perimeter
addition for the Kings, joining recent picks Kevin Martin and Francisco
Garcia. The Big East's leading scorer last year, he's got the pedigree to
contribute, provided he offsets his lack of size.

Many insiders said that a team would fall in love with Douby’s game and it
looks like the Kings are that team. Douby is an extremely talented player who
fell under the radar and played on an untalented Rutgers squad. Douby has
solid range and that’s what the Kings were looking for.

According to NBAdraft.net, he was promised here. Douby certainly fits the
Bobby Jackson-like role off the bench, but he’s a much better shooter and
passer at this stage in their careers. Can he score like Jackson in the NBA?
It remains to be seen because his body may not be able to handle an 82-game
grind. But there’s no doubt he can score. If he can come off the bench,
giving Mike Bibby enough rest and get everyone involved, then he will make
that promise look very, very good.

Critics will say that Geoff Petrie should have made a "need" pick and taken a
point guard like Rajon Rondo or Marcus Williams. But Quincy Douby is one of
the best shooters in the draft and is an explosive (albeit small) guard. He
can score in bunches and I think he'll have a better career than any of the
point guards taken behind him. Maybe the Kings didn't need him (they have
Kevin Martin and Francisco Garcia at his position), but Petrie has been ahead
of the curve on most of his draft picks over the years. I'm guessing he was
this time as well.

Sacramento grabs guard Quincy "Smoke a" Douby out of Rutgers. He's big-time
scorer and should fit in well with the new-look Kings, who have an entirely
new attitude since the arrival of Ron Artest. But his selection has to have
Marcus Williams fuming. There is no way Williams considers Douby his
superior, let alone his equal. (Not that the Kings, with Mike Bibby, needed
Williams.) - 9:31 pm EDT

FOXSports Grade: B
The skinny: The Kings needed another shooter and Douby is primo. The Big
East's scoring leader, he can shoot from anywhere and handles the ball well.
But he's not a point guard. He'll have to be in the game when they're running
the offense off Brad Miller or Ron Artest. Nonetheless, he's ideal to give
Mike Bibby a breather and develop his playmaking ability.

DIME'S TAKE: Let it fly Quincy. The Kings took him for one reason and one
reason only - to shoot the rock early and often. Douby's J lived in the
shadow of Redick's, but Quincy can light it up. He will get fat off of open
looks created by Mike Bibby. Looks for him to play an Eddie House-type role,
except the Kings can do more with Douby because he's much taller

SI.com Grade: B
Kings GM Geoff Petrie raised some eyebrows by passing on point guard Marcus
Williams, but it's hard to argue with his track record. The Kings needed a
shooting guard with some pop off the bench, and this wiry little guy led the
Big East in scoring. He could be a Bobby Jackson-type, able to take some
pressure off Mike Bibby, Ron Artest and Kevin Martin. He's also something of
an insurance policy in case Bonzi Wells leaves as a free agent.
