Woodson, to his credit, recognized his team's shortcomings after Game 1.
He then implemented a plan to make sure those shortcomings didn't bite the
Knicks again in Game 2.
"We added some things this morning," he said hours before tipoff Tuesday.
"We didn’t want to go down 0-2," Kenyon Martin said. "We had a greater sense
of urgency."
“Stop after stop after stop,” Mike Woodson said in the interview room.
Then Woodson said, “And our offense began to flow like old times.”
He meant all the times this season, at the beginning of the regular season
and at the end of the regular season, when the Knicks looked like one of the
best teams in the league.
“Nobody said it was gonna be easy,” Mike Woodson said.
“We regrouped,” Tyson Chandler said.
“We caught our breath,” Pablo Prigioni said.
The fans started chanting “Pab-lo! Pab-lo!’’ for the first time this
season and the mantra carried on for much of the fourth quarter. Prigioni
finished with 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting with four assists and four
rebounds.
“It was amazing for me,’’ Prigioni said of the chants. “But it’s always
about the team.’’
“I didn’t forget Game 6 in Boston,” Mike Woodson said. “Pablo was big in
that game and this was a big game for our ballclub ... that we had to win. We
didn’t want to go to Indianapolis down two. I had flashbacks of Boston, I
went with him and he came up big.”
Despite his playoff success, Prigioni, who signed only a one-year deal to
come to New York, said he hasn’t decided if he wants to come back.
“I don’t think anything about next season,” Prigioni said.
“It was fun,” Prigioni said, “to win the game.”
Left unsaid: It would be most helpful if he made most of them.
“When shots go in,” Anthony said, “it eases up everything.”
“They went in today,’’ Anthony said. “They started going in late at a
crucial time. Those are the same shots I’m going to continue to take and can
’t stop doing that. They came in rhythm.’’
“I can’t stop attacking,” Anthony said. “I can’t stop being aggressive
out there on the basketball court. I think I did a good job of making some
adjustments out there ... just being patient. ... I thought that first game I
was a little bit too impatient coming off the pick-and-rolls.”
“I think I was trying to make a statement,” Shumpert said of the highlight
jam. “That’s the most perfect miss I’ve had in a long time. It came off so
perfect. It was beautiful.
“I wanted to win this game so bad. I knew we needed this game.”
“Shumpert’s dunk was unbelievable. Incredible,” Anthony said. “Nobody saw
that coming but him. Got the crowd going and got us going.”
“If it wasn’t for [the media], I forgot I tore my ACL,” Shumpert said. “I
’ve been waiting my whole life to play in the playoffs.”
“I can’t help but think,” coach Mike Woodson said, “he is going to
continue to roll and get better.”
“Give [the Knicks] credit, they played a great basketball game, but 21
turnovers is self-inflicted,” Pacers coach Frank Vogel said Tuesday night.
“We turned the ball over, we didn’t make [free throws], we gave up second
shots, and we didn’t guard the paint or the rim. And we didn’t score,” he
said.
“We should have taken care of the ball,” George said. “The turnovers ...
that’s tough to overcome. And being on an opponent’s floor, you’re just
digging yourself a hole.”
“Starting with myself, four turnovers as a point guard is too much. You have
to take care of the ball better, be a little bit more aggressive,” Pacers
point George Hill said. “Turnovers were the key to the game. We have to
limit that.”
P.GEORGE:"我们应该要保护好球,我们的失误真的太多了...。"
G.HILL:"作为一个控卫,我应该要更积极,更要保护好球,失误真的太多了...。"
