Phil Jackson says his fiancée, Lakers part-owner and president Jeanie Buss, “encouraged” him to coach the Knicks, but that his 68-year-old body won’t let him do it. We had another conversation at breakfast in January of this year, in which he wanted to talk about styles of coaching, purely basketball, a philosophical discussion. Brian Shaw, Derek Fisher, Kurt Rambis, Scottie Pippen and Jim Cleamons have also been mentioned. “We’re looking for a leader,” Jackson said. “Someone who can bring out the best in players, someone who has the capability of encouraging the staff to meet the needs that players have, that philosophically join in, they buy into what we’re doing.” 问禅师是否有其他的人选，他表示：有的。但拒绝提供任何名字。 "我们在寻找一个领导者，一个可以让球员表现得更出色， 让球员知道我们的想法更且能够融合理论与实务的人。 As far as a timeframe, Jackson said both that he hopes to have a new coach within the “next month,” but also in time for summer league in July. “Hiring a coach I don’t think’s important with a timetable,” Jackson said. “We’d really like to have a coach in our summer league camp, or our summer league games out in Las Vegas in July.
