Amar’e Stoudemire’s five-year run with the Knicks is over.
The two sides reached a buyout agreement Sunday night, according to a league
source.
Stoudemire, 32, said Wednesday that “Father Time was ticking” and he wasn’
t sure how many chances he will have to win a title.
The power forward, who signed a five-year, $100 million contract in 2010,
will seek to sign with a playoff contender. The Mavericks, Warriors, Clippers
and Suns have been mentioned as potential destinations.
Stoudemire has a pro-rated $23.4 million left on his contract and he could
have just given up the share of the $1.4 million veteran’s minimum he is
expected to get from his next team to the Knicks.
Stoudemire scored five points in his Knicks finale Wednesday in Orlando.
