OK, for your reference
Assume (x+a)(x+b) is an example, giving you 4 corners
\begin{picture}
\unitlength=1cm
\put(x,y){\makebox(0,0){objects}} % objects = x, -a, x, and -b, totaling 4 puts
\put(x,y){\line(dx,dy){len}} % two cross lines with different slope, totaling 2 puts
\end{picture}
