In NYBX the registration fee is only $750 (it was only $250 until last July). But if you want to take CBX, you need 1) pay almost $200 to register at the state bar asso., and 2) pay $550 - $850 to register the exam (depending on whether you register as student or attorney). And if you are lucky enough to pass the CBX, you need to apply for moral character determination and 3) pay another $450 application fee, where in NY it is free. (please refer to Calbar website for exact number) However, the number of subjects tested in NYBX is actually larger than that in CBX. And most of CA laws resemble the Federal laws (except Cal Evidence and Cal professional resposibilities). in NYBX you need to memorize a lot of NY exceptions. But it's the depth of the questions and longer test time set the two exams apart. It is said that NYBX is like a sprinter, and CBX marathon. Undeniably, the two are the most difficult bar exams among the 51 bar exams in the US. The value of a US bar is minimum in Taiwan. It's not the problem of the US bar, but the problem of Taiwanese legal market. Many has discussed about this so I would defer the answers to them.
