In anticipation of that, we present an intro series looking at some of the players who deserve mentioning but probably will not be appearing on their teams’ Top 10 lists. The popular series is back for a second year. Seattle Mariners The Graduate: Rob Johnson, C As a fan of Johnson, I was happy to see him get a shot in 2009. Unfortunately, his bat did not do much to show that he should be back in the Majors in 2010. He hit just .213/.289/.326 with an ISO of .112 in 258 at-bats. Johnson was a replacement-level catcher who offers a steady glove and an arm that threw out 31% of runners attempting to steal against him. He can also look over his shoulder and　see Adam Moore zooming up behind him. 身为看好Johnson的一员，看到他在09年被给予机会我还是很高兴 的。可惜的是他的打击表现并不出色，不知道2010还有没有留在MLB 的机会。他在258个AB中只打出了.213/.289/.326，ISO .112的成绩。 Johnson是个替补级别的捕手，有稳定的守备和31%的阻杀率。他如 果回头看看的话就会发现Adam Moore正在急起直追中。 The Riser: Michael Pineda, RHP Pineda, 20, battled injuries in 2009 but he made it back by the end of the year and looked good. His stuff is not currently as good as some of the other pitchers in the system, but its solid with an 88-92 mph fastball, good changeup, and slider. Despite pitching in a hitters’ haven in ‘09, Pineda allowed just 29 hits in 44.1 innings of work and his walk rate was just 1.22 BB/9. He also allowed a line-drive rate of just 8.1%. On second thought, I think I’ve just convinced myself that he deserves to be on the Top 10 list for the Mariners, despite pitching just 44.1 innings in ‘09. 今年20岁的Pineda在从伤势中回复後表现的相当不错。他的Stuff 跟农场里面的其他投手比起来并不是太好，但是还是不错的。他有个 88-92mph的速球，不错的changeup跟一个滑球。虽然他09年是在 打者天堂里面投球，但是他在44.1局的投球里面只被打出29只安 打，保送率只有1.22/9。同时他被打出平飞球的机率只有8.1%。现在 想一想，虽然他只投了44.1局，我觉得他其实还是可以进入水兵的农场top 10。 The Tumbler: Maikel Cleto, RHP Cleto, like Pineda, did not see a lot of time on the mound in 2009, but his results where no where near as promising when he did pitch. Now keep in mind, though, no one is even considering writing him off. He’s still an excellent prospect with a repertoire that includes a fastball that can hit the mid-to-upper 90s, a slider and a changeup. Cleto allowed 35 hits in 25.1 innings of work but his walk rate (3.91 BB.9) and strikeout rate (8.53 K/9) were not bad. He was also in his first season in a new organization and is just 20 years old. Cleto，就跟Pineda一样在09年都没有太多的机会上场，但是他的表 现相比Pineda是差太多了。记住，没有人说他没希望了。他依旧是 一个非常好的新秀，拥有mid 90’s到top 90’s的球速，还有有一个滑 球和changeup。Cleto在25.1局的投球中被打了35支安打，但是他 的 3.91 BB/9跟8.53 K/9 其实还算可以。这毕竟是他在新球团中的第 一年，而且他也才20岁而已。 The ‘10 Sleeper: Gabriel Noriega, SS Does the Mariners organization know how to develop middle infield prospects or what? Noriega, 19, had a very nice year for his age/experience level. He hit .311/.360/.456 with 14 doubles in 206 at-bats. The plate rates need a little work with a walk rate of 7.2% and a strikeout rate of 29.1% but he’s shown enough that people should start getting excited. Noriega may hit for more power than expected (.146 ISO), although he currently hits a lot of balls on the ground (55.7%). 水兵球团真的很会培养中间内野手耶！ 今年19岁的Noriega以他的年龄和经验来说，打出了相当不错的球 季。在206个AB中他打出了14个二垒打和 .311/.360/.456的成绩。 他在选球的表现倒是需要一点磨练，他只有7.2%的BB rate，而K% 却 来到29.1。其实他的表现已经足够让人兴奋了。Noriega可能比大家 想像中的还要有Power (.146 ISO)，但是他同时也打出很多滚地球。(55.7%) Bonus: Tug Hulett, IF I know, I know… Hulett is no longer a Mariners prospect, but he was highlighted as the ‘09 sleeper last winter. Now a Royal, the infielder did not really have an opportunity to play much in the Majors and when he did… he did not hit well. However, he continued to be a solid minor league player at the age of 26 with a line of .291/.384/.473. Hulett walks a lot (13.4%), he has some power (.182 ISO) and he can play enough positions well enough that he should be able to help a Major League team as a glove/bat off the bench. 我知道……我知道……Hulett已经不是水兵的新秀了，但是他在去年 球季是被rank成值得瞩目的球员之一。现在身为皇家一员的Hulett 并没有在Majors得到太多机会，而当他有这些机会的时候，他表现 的并不是很好。但是他在minor league依旧是一个不错的球员，26 岁的他打出了.291/.384/.473的成绩。他有不错的 13.4 BB%，和一些 power (.182 ISO)，他还可以守备各种位置，对於一个大联盟球队来 说，他会是个不错的板凳球员。 ＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝ 话说这系列的标题都有够长 =..= 一样，有错请不吝指教，谢谢。 --
