Tabloid stories have recently centred on public dressing downs handed out by Gary Neville to Cristiano Ronaldo. Speculation also focused on an alleged behind-the-scenes bust-up between the Portuguese winger and striker Alan Smith. But the Reds captain isn't worried about Old Trafford team spirit cracking up. "There has been a lot of media stories about one or two players falling out and it is a lot of nonsense," Keane said in an MUTV phone-in. "The spirit in this team is as good as I have known it and I mean that. "But if you feel a player is not doing his job then you tell him. It is important you do that at any level whether it is with Manchester United or on a Sunday morning. You are in the game to win and you try and help your team-mates. "It is a man's game and you have to be prepared to take criticism. It is not excessive and if I was the manager I would be first to say it. "Over the years there has been stuff said on the pitch but when you walk off it is forgotten about. On the pitch you are going to have disagreements. If players aren't having disagreements then I would be worried. Feelings "It is important you show your feelings. You let players know. If they should have been getting back or forwards or shooting instead of passing, or passing instead of shooting, then you let them know. But then it is forgotten about. You move on. "It is a tough game sometimes and you have to accept the criticism along the way. "People may see the senior players having a go, but, believe me, the young lads will have a go at the seniors and rightly so. "It is important you don't take it personally. We all want what is best for the team, but, importantly, when you walk off that pitch you come in next day and it is forgotten about. "A lot of this has been blown up by the media. They may have seen a certain incident on the pitch but I see it as healthy. As for the speculation about inside the dressing room, some of the stuff is crazy. The media speculation is absolute nonsense." Keane also emphasised his desire to become a manager when he hangs up his boots and confessed the Old Trafford job is one he'd relish eventually. "I would like to become a manager but at the moment I am fully focused on playing," the Reds midfielder added. "I have another year left on my contract after this season, and if I feel as physically good this time next year as I do now then I will look to play on. "But managing is something I see myself trying to do. However, I am under no illusions. Sometimes you might think that just because you have had a half-decent career you automatically will become a good manager, but I know I need to learn my trade and learn the ropes somewhere. Challenge "I see that as a big challenge. In life you need a challenge. If I retire in a couple of years I don't want to be sitting in TV studios just analysing games. I would like to be a manager and pulling the strings of a good club. But I know how hard it is. "United is something to aspire to but you have to learn your trade somewhere. The best managers have worked their way up to these kinds of places. I would have to do it. "But I hope I still have a lot to offer as a player." Keane's former team-mate David Beckham will not be following the Irishman down the managerial path. The England captain plans to set up football schools when his playing career ends. Beckham said: "I am not interested in being a coach but I would like to have football schools - I have always wanted to do that since I went to the Bobby Charlton school. "I am going to open one in London and one in LA. My second passion is charity work - I am an ambassador for UNICEF and it gives me great pride. Sport is a great escape route for the needy." Beckham admitted he considered himself blessed with good fortune, saying: "I am very fortunate - I enjoy my work; I have a wonderful family and a loving one. I am not happy with the constant harassment but I don't complain because I understand it comes with my job. I would, however, like to have some privacy when it comes to my loved ones, for example to be able to take my kids to school." --
