Unable to have his usual stamp on the game going forward and United missed that. Jones - 5 Assigned to the job of keeping Eden Hazard quiet when the Belgian pushed on and it was a tough night for him. Smalling - 5 Was made to look lumbering and ridiculous by Hazard in the moment when he turned and changed the tone of the evening. It was an improvement from October so that was a plus for him. Rojo - 6 A few flicks from Costa caught him out but generally the Argentine stuck to his task admirably against the dangerous and powerful Chelsea striker. Did get done by Willian. Darmian - 5 The Italian never really flourished as the left wing back-cum-full back and even having Young backing him up didn't help much. Herrera - 4 The Basque midfielder had his work cut out keeping tabs on Hazard and it was always going to be a hazardous job. But unlucky to go early. Pogba - 5 It wasn't a fair match up in size between the Frenchman and Kante but Chelsea's diminutive midfielder had the upper hand on his more expensive foe. The job only got worse when Herrera left the scene. Young - 4 Rarely got into the game out on the left and seemed to be something of a passenger for much of the time. When forced into defensive duties he looked rusty in the job. Booking for foul on Moses summed up his game. Mkhitaryan - 4 The Armenian had one decent shot that flew wide but other than that it was a struggle for him to make an impact. Had to make way when Reds down to 10 men. Rashford - 7 Worked tirelessly after “putting himself on the line” according to Mourinho following his illness. But it was a frustrating lone evening but was almost a hero had it not been for class stop from Courtois. Substitutes Fellaini (sub Mkhitaryan 37) - 5 Was in there to stem tide but unable to do it.
