For the second time in two games without their star center, the Wolves were
blown out of the Staples Center. After losing by 36 to the Lakers on Sunday,
Minnesota fell 124-101 to the Clippers on Tuesday.
Both Rubio and Timberwolves’ coach Ryan Saunders noted Minnesota didn’t
follow its game plan whatsoever. The Wolves jacked up quick shots and didn’t
stick to the prescribed defensive coverages.
“When things weren’t going our way, everybody goes playing selfish,” Rubio
said. “We have to learn. There’s a lot of excuses. We’re young, blah,
blah, blah, this and that, but once you step on the court, you’re playing
for an NBA team, and the last two games, it’s been ridiculously bad.”
Rubio said the Wolves are just going out there and “hooping” right now,
like a bunch of guys who showed up at the park to play a little 5 on 5. It’s
entirely unorganized. That’s a recipe for disaster in the NBA, which is
exactly what Minnesota is experiencing.

“Hopefully we can learn from our mistakes. We’re 2-2, which is a good
record, but it doesn’t show exactly where we’re at. We’re way worse than
2-2 right now.”
